Who We Are

We're Don and Carrie Hagglund, and ranching isn't something we came to later in life — it's the only life we've ever known. Don grew up working large ranches across the Pacific Northwest, competed in high school rodeo at Salmon High School in Salmon, Idaho, and went on to earn a degree in Agriculture Management from California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo, where he also competed in college rodeo.

After college, Don spent six years in Texas working alongside cutting horse legend Buster Welch and the King Ranch — two of the most respected names in the American cattle industry. He returned to the family ranch in Klamath Falls, Oregon, where he trained and showed cutting horses before moving back to Texas in 2009.

Rogue Land & Cattle is the result of a lifetime spent around cattle, horses, and land — and a genuine belief that the best beef starts with the best genetics and the right environment to grow them in.

“We raise every calf the way we'd want our own food raised — with good genetics, calm handling, and genuine care.”

— Don & Carrie Hagglund

Experience You Can Trust

When you buy from Rogue Land & Cattle, you're buying from people who have spent their entire lives in the cattle industry — not hobbyists, not investors, but working ranchers with formal training and decades of hands-on experience.

Formal Agriculture Education

Don holds a degree in Agriculture Management from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo — one of the most respected ag programs in the country. That foundation shapes every breeding and management decision we make.

A Lifetime on the Ranch

From large Pacific Northwest operations to the King Ranch in Texas, Don's background spans the full breadth of American ranching. That experience is baked into how we raise our Wagyu here in Wolfe City.

NCHA & AQHA Judging Credentials

Don is an AAAA-rated National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) judge and an American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) special event judge — credentials that reflect a career built on genuine expertise and peer recognition within the industry.

Our Philosophy

Genetics matter. We source from proven Full Blood and high-percentage Wagyu lines. The foundation of great beef is built before the animal is ever born, and we take that seriously at every breeding decision.

Stress-free handling is equally important. Calm cattle raise better beef. Cortisol affects tenderness and flavor — that's not a theory, it's well-documented science. Our animals are raised in an environment built around low-stress stockmanship, and it shows in the beef.

We know each animal personally. That's not a marketing line — it's simply the reality of how we run this operation. Raising registered Wagyu in Wolfe City, Texas means we stay small enough to care about every single animal on the place.
